Keith Warren is a pioneer in mortality composting and the founder of Advanced Composting Technologies (ACT), where he has led the development and deployment of innovative composting systems for more than two decades. After beginning his career in engineering and operations management, Keith launched Mountain Organic Materials in 1998 and quickly became recognized for advancing rapid composting methods for dairy manure and livestock mortalities.
In 2006, he established ACT to broaden the reach of his mortality composting technology, working closely with producers, government agencies, and industry partners. During the 2015 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak in Iowa, Keith was recruited as one of fewer than 20 USDA Subject Matter Experts nationwide. In 2016, he founded Composting SME LLC to train and deploy expert composting subject matter experts to support emergency response efforts, including the large-scale deployment of composting SMEs during the 2022-2025 HPAI outbreaks.
Keith holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from Western Carolina University and an Executive MBA from Rollins College. His combination of engineering, business, and field experience makes him a trusted leader in developing sustainable, scalable solutions for agricultural mortality management.
